I know this is a tortoise forum, but my mom found (what I think is) a turtle. A land turtle. Here are a few pictures. I'm thinking it's an Eastern Box Turtle, but I'm not sure. I live in North Carolina, USA. It has a hinged shell, five toes on the front, and four on the back. All clawed.

This is Tom. I've had him for about 3 months I think. This was when I first got him. I love the "fangs" he has :3 They're really tiny.

Tom, my Russian Tortoise has been sleepy... a lot. I hardly see him eat. I even placed a strawberry right in front of him to get him excited about food, and he didn't go for it. I recently rearranged his enclosure so maybe he's stressed about the seemingly new environment? I'm soaking him now...

Update on Tom's eyes: They're looking much better! His right eye was/is more puffy than his left, so that one has a bit more healing to do.

No. I don't. I heard they hurt the tort's eyes.

I'm not sure what type of UV light I have. It's a strip light though. It gives UVA and UVB. I just got a bag of spring mix yesterday. I'll have to print out this list and let her shop for them when she can. I'm weary of getting things from outside because I'm not sure what's been used on them -...

So my Russian Tortoise, Tom, has puffy white eyes. His right eye is worse than his left. I did a LITTLE research, and I found out it could be either him being dehydrated or a lack of Vitamin A. I've been feeding him Romaine Lettuce and Mustard Greens, then ran out. Now I feed him Romaine Lettuce...

So turns out someone didn't throw away the mustard greens. :) I filled his bowl and my mom said she'll get some food soon.

Wow. o0 it kept duplicating my post. No, I have nothing outside my house. My mom usually goes and gets the greens from the store when she buys other things. I don't have any money of my own, so I can't get it.

Okay so I have a Russian Tortoise (Tom) and I have run out of the fresh greens. He has no timothy hay atm, but I do have the T-Rex Dry Formula "complete and balanced nutrition for all tortoises." Is it better to leave the food dish empty (I don't know when I'll get more food) or to feed him...

Got the dry area fixed up. I've put cherry tomatoes and slices of cucumber on each side so he learns to use both ends. I'm wary of the rock hide, on the right, but I figure if he falls it'd be the same as falling off the log hide. I would love some ideas for railings ^_^ He seems to love it...

How is this? I have to have an empty corner on the side of the tub closest to the camera so I can cut a hole through to the dry enclosure once it's finished. That's why I moved his food to the other end - to make room for the water dish and soon-to-be hole.

Tom hasn't ever fallen on his back before. At least not while I've had him. He's done a few faceplanting though :p He seems to scale the log quite well, and the reason why the substrate is piled up in the corner is so he can get down that way, too, because he was trying to do that earlier. I...

Cuuuute. :3 I also noticed how he seems to have 3 Ms down the middle of his back xD But yeah I heard coil bulbs are bad for torts.

So far I only have half of it done: the humid half. I have just set up the mist lamp, so that might change. Right now it's tilted so the mist pours into the enclosure. There's no lid. I also have a terra cotta planter pot thing with water in it, and damp coconut fiber substrate. The humidity...
