I went with turtle shack because they temperature sex their torts and I needed females.

It is a ZooMed analog gauge, and it is about 4-5" from the plantation soil substrate. This will be moved Monday when the new habitat arrives.

I have an eco terra temp gun and that works great; and I have 2 humidity gauges in the tank. One from Big Apple Pet Supplies and the other is Repti-Therm.

The plantation soil came in and they seem much happier, the humidity is also higher and easier to sustain. Thank you all for the help and advice!

I figure I'll keep the substrate moist and then spritz it down with a misting bottle a few times a day. That should keep the humidity up.

What are your thoughts on using exo-terra eco earth for substrate?
