I have been offered a hermanns hatchling for free as it has no paperwork or microchip. I am not looking for a tortoise to breed with or sell so does it matter that it doesn't have the paperwork? Also can I apply for the paperwork at a later date?

I'm Abbie and I'm very excited to get my Hermann's tortoise as soon as I've got everything ready! Completely new to all this so I will be asking a million questions and any advice would be great! :tort:
So after a lot of consideration I have decided to get a tortoise but it is such a minefield! I'm scared of buying from the wrong person or following the wrong advice so I thought this would be the best way to find out.
