Hi there :), so I've had my Russian Herbert in a larger enclosure for a while, it's about 5 feet by 2.5 ish a great improvement from his previous small glass cage but recently he seems Frantic. I know his cage isn't very stimulating he has a hide some decor flower pot rocks and a water dish but...
This is the intial setup, I of course need more hides and rocks and fun things for him to climb on but I just finished setting it all up and Herbert's still exploring :) I also realize the opposite end is a little lacking in heat im currently still saving for a ceramic bulb that won't submit...

Thanks so much @dmmj @Jodie @wellington @SarahChelonoidis this was very helpful. And sorry I guess that was kind of a dumb question. Thanks again! I'm fairly new to tortoise owning I have done lots of research but just wanna give my tort the best enviornment!

I agree that it's your choice, if you have researched it and know your tortoise is healthy I think it's okay. If not that's fine too I don't hibernate my Russian because personally I'm nervous to but from what I have researched your tortoise can be healthy without hibernation too.
I really want my tortoise to be able to explore and have an interesting enclosure because right now he seems boerd with it because there's nothing to do. He is a Russian tortoise, how can I make it exciting, what can I add? (it's indoors) thanks so much!
So I recently purchased my first Russian tortoise named Herbert. I love him so much but I don't think he was cared for well at petco his shell is very worn down and I really want to keep him healthy, how can a build it back up? (By the way, this isn't his enclosure im currently soaking him. When...
Tortoise type: Russian
Current lighting:
UVB
100 watt basking bulb
I currently leave my Uvb light on for 12 hours a day, my basking bulb keeps the temp normal in the tortoises's enclosure, but I do like my room to stay cold so I was wondering if I turn off the lights at night as you're...
