Hi, how can you tell if a tortoise actually drinks.
Too be honest I cant recall seeing my little Hermann drink.
He is obvously drinking at some stage but always when i'm not watching.
My husband is a multiple sclerosis sufferer and sometimes cant feel heat.
If I have to go away I would like to know that my little man is (Hermann) ok and that my husband and daughter are ok to manage for a couple of days.
At what temp would you say the water should be for soaking and is there...

Whilst peeling and grating some carrot up for Hermann, I could'nt believe the orange stain on my hands left from them.
Is the colouring safe, my daughter gets hyper on red colouring, I don't fancy coming home and...

My aquired little man was fed on sausages, tesco wafer biscuits and god knows what else before I got him and I've read a bit about this subject.
Can any of you tell by this picture if he has got slight pyramiding?

I have a Hermann who is now 2, the woman who had him before didn't put him into hibernation.
Do they have to be a certain age or size before they can?
Do Hermanns have to be put into hibernation?:)
I know that there is a few of you that are very good at sexing our little friends, is there anyone able to help.
I'm getting fed up with having to quote my little friend a he/she all of the time.

Hi since taking in my hermann, it has so far been a learning curve for him/she and myself.
On sunday I gave him/her a cuttlefish and he/she loves it.
Does he/she still need the calcium powder on the food??
I know that the powder includes extra vits etc so I'm wondering if I'm actually asking...
Upon bathing my hermann named Alex, I noticed that something as white as snow came from him/her.
This is the second time this has happened now.
Is it natural?
Is it urine and a teritorial meaning?
Maybe he/she wants to stay dirty and is telling me that he/she doesnt like it!:rolleyes:

has anyone tried freezing dandelion's.
Where I live in London is quite hard to find dandelions that may not of had weed killer sprayed on it.

My nan used to keep these but isnt around for advice.
I could do with some info on what to feed and not feed him/her!!
