Dang, I have a volunteer one of these in the succulent bed in my front yard. I let it grow because they're such a pretty tree. I'll have to make sure I'm very careful, or cut down the tree.

Well, thanks a bunch, Laura (says she with a note of sarcasm!): I've had a Mimosa tree in my desert tortoise pen for over 10 years. Such a pretty tree! but so very, very messy in the fall. I've never had a problem with the tortoises eating the seed pods, but that's because I didn't know they were toxic. Now that you've educated me, I'll probably see them getting sick!

But probably not, because they are getting boxed up to hibernate and the tree hasn't dropped its pods yet. I'm pretty good about raking up all the dead leaves and tree garbage, so I think I'm going to be ok with it there.
