She looks huge! I would definitely check it out if it was close to me. Wanna check it out for me Kimber? :D

Yeah, I'm not seeing it either. The shells not perfect, don't care for the romaine all that much and the enclosure seems a bit small from the pic, but nothing makes me think this is the typical sad stuff we so often see. I see a decent substrate, some nice decorations, clean glass, and while romaine is not my favorite, at least its not a pile of strawberries, tomato and cucumbers. Or canned cat food.

That is definitely a cb tortoise. Looks pretty good to me. I emailed the guy. I don't need it but I have a been open for it. That is actually a low price if that is a large healthy cb female.

Did you contact them and offer some guidance? Ignoring to offer some polite, constructive non-judgmental advice is not helping the tortoise or it's new owner. They (person selling) it will pass on the same poor info they probably were told.
Don't forget, it has only been a few years that the majority of correct info has been available. I mean this in the nicest way, but to complain about someones care without offering some friendly advice does nothing and is pretty much just as bad. Email them some friendly info. Tell them about TFO. Even ask if they would pass on the sites and/or advice you have given them to the new owners. Wish them luck and say good bye. Now you have done something to help that tortoise. Whether s/he takes it or not, is not on you. Doing nothing, is on you.

I think the flat shell and pyramiding is sad. None of my golden greeks look that way. I feel like there is no excuse for raising a tortoise that way. There is so much information out there that it's inexcusable. In the days before the internet, I would agree that tortoise caretakers may have been doing the best they could with the information available, but this is not true today.

I also think that tank is too small for her size. Personally, I wouldn't pay that much for that tortoise. I have bought much better looking Golden Greeks for a lot less. If they wanted less I would buy her though, just to provide a better life for her. (My husband will kill me if I do!)

Also, I did email and offer some suggestions - thanks for suggesting that. I'm just hoping someone with knowledge of tortoises will buy her.

This is just my opinion ... and I think it's sad for the poor tortoise.

Were the Golden Greeks you purchased 9 inch captive bred females? I agree the pyramiding does not look good but if it is truly 9 inches, that tortoise is pretty old. I would buy it but the guy will not meet me halfway. The sad thing is if it is living in a small aquarium but I cannot tell what it is in.

Unfortunately, it is still true today. We may have the internet now, but that doesn't make all the info out there good or correct . Just last year I got my leopard and got bad info. Luckily I found TFO. TFO is answering newbie questions every day and many of them are doing things wrong, incorrect or not the way anyone on TFO would recommend doing it. If there were a way to track every tortoise owner just in the USA, there would probably be more doing it wrong then doing it right. That is why I always send a nice, informative, nonjudgmental email to them and offer some education, ask them to check out TFO and ask them to pass it on to
the new owners.

The sad thing for me is the size of the tank, you can see how small it is from the sides, the poor tortoise barely had any room to turn around.
