Any ideas what kind of turtle this is?

Saw this on the Sacramento Craigslist and am wondering what kind of turtle it is. I don't recognize the shell but am wondering if it is a box turtle or an aquatic turtle?

That is an easy one, red ear slider, I can see a little bit of red on the side of it's head, the shell pattern and color is different but then a lot of them are.

That's bigger than what our RES had before we got him.

I agree, that's a RES. Beautiful looking turtle though.
