Box turtle eye

Saturday I noticed my turtle's left eye seemed slightly irritated. Yesterday same. Today he does not want to open it. Also he is sleeping more. Is there anything I could begin at home to help him? Should I observe him for a day or so? Or should I begin at the vet? He ate but I feel he is not himself.

Have you given him a soak in warm water? Not hot water, just warm. Maybe he has something he needs flushed out.
