My Southern Painted Turtle has grown up with a big bump on the side of his head. It doesn’t seem to affect his swimming or eating. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Yes.
That is most likely an ear infection. It needs to be lanced and the gunk inside rinsed out. A vet is the best way to get this done. You might re-post this on the Health section if you want additional opinions.

tympanic abscess. Needs to be excised.

I found a vet in Hawkins, Texas. She excised the abscess. Jacob is on antibiotics and healing nicely. Thank you! I have a video but am not sure we can put them on here.
