I recently noticed on my 3 year old leopard tortoise that his top part of his jaw/mouth is a little chipped on both sides. I don't know how this happened and I was wondering if it is natural and if It will grow back. Thanks for your time. I'm just over protective if you can tell. Heh.

A picture is worth 1000 words.

Maybe his beak has become over grown and is finally starting to chip back?

I too thought mine had chipped his beak a while ago, truth was that his beak had overgrown so it just looked like it had chips in it. Mine wore itself back down naturally by feeding him on a slate with hard foods. Didnt need to clip it. As stated above, let's see a pic!

As was mentioned, a picture would help but it's probably nothing to worry about. A tortoises beak will grow like a finger nail and will wear down naturally if it feeds regularly. Sometime's it get's chipped or is filed down unevenly, but it's totally normal.

Sorry about the late reply. I work too much and have little time online. Here's a picture of my Leopard tortoise that I posted earlier but I think I posted it in a different place. As you can see from the side, it's chipped and it's also chipped on its other side. Looking forward to some answers. Thanks. =)

Looks chipped to me. It should grow out over time, though. Unless it continually re-chips it, I would not worry and would just watch it from month to month.
