I got a dozen free small crickets today so I dumped them in with my five baby box turtles. Four show zero interest, but the fifth! He has been hunting them down one by one for the last half hour. He has caught three so far. So much fun to watch him. He at first chased them but then he settled in a corner and he is grabbing them as they run by. I never would have thought a turtle could use tactics but he sure proved me wrong!

Well. Turtles aren't really know to be fast animals. They really need to be ambush hunters!
But yes, it can take a while for them to learn the right strategy ;-)

I love watching them hunt for bugs. Even if one is catching them, the others will eventually learn from him. Nothing cuter than a little box turtle hunting for food.
