The bulb is not a mercury vapor. It is actually a brooding bulb that they use on chickens. It provides nice uniform heat.
I will have to go get some plain ole topsoil to replace the sand with. Although I have never had problems with sand in the past, I do understand and respect the decision to not take any chances.
The coil light sucks (pardon my French ) that stupid thing was $40 bucks.
Also, I changed the water dish to a terra cotta one. I need to get a larger one still.
