Dymondia Margaretae

Is Dymondia Margaretae or (Silver Carpet) safe for tortises? I am thinking about using this as some ground cover in my new landscaping.

It is not toxic. I had some in my leopard tortoise pen, but it needs a lot of water to stay alive. The tortoises never ate it.
