soon, I'm going to be building my torts a huge indoor enclosure, and I was wondering if there's a practical way to add a filtered pond? Maybe even a waterfall type feature? The enclosure is going to measure 8'x4'x28" tall. I want to make it taller, but it needs to fit through my door.

Yeah i have a filter on my waterfish. You would have to make it fairly big however . mine is 4foot round 6 inches deep at its deepest. Indoor enclosure maybe harder to make one for

Idk if that would be a wise decision if the tortoise gets wet on its shell it could get mineral deposit though it's harmless it is very annoying.

Hi Kelli. I think with an 8x4' enclosure you will be better off keeping the water side of things simple. As long as you have drinking water that's changed daily you'll be fine, you need a larger bath that your guy can sit in to bathe too. This could be something as simple as a cat litter tray that's changed every few days or so.
How big is your tort now and how long do you expect your tort to live in this enclosure for? If your torts going to be in this enclosure, let's say at 8" SCL, then you need to think about that now, will he outgrow an elaborate waterfall system quickly, I'm assuming he's still small with your avatar photo.
Keep it simple, floor space is more important, you'll be amazed how all these fantastic ideas we have absorb valuable floor space. I have to reign myself in all the time :D

My redfoots seek out sitting under the waterfall quite a lot.
What do you mean, mineral deposits are annoying?

I I have two torts, one is a year old and the other is one and a half. I haven't measured them in a while, but they still fit in their 4x3 enclosure. I can imagine them tearing up a waterfall. Would a simple low water level turtle filter work if I anchored it down to something?

I take up too much room with my decor ideas, too. The waterfall can be saved for outdoors.

I would wait till you have enough room. Using shallow pumps and trying to make one work will only cause more problems. Even mine outside can be a pain lol
