Field collected?

I am just wondering what does field collected mean? Wild caught? And is it okay to buy field collected tortoises? Or is it illegal? Because I noticed a whole bunch of websites such as underground reptiles and snakes at sunset sell some field collected tortoises.

Underground reptiles and snakes at sunset are certainly not breeders I would buy from. I’m not sure about legality, but buying wild caught (field collected) animals is not recommended.

Wild caught. Although some are "farm raised". Wild caught have a hard time adjusting to captivity and sometimes have parasites.

Best to buy captive bred. Better adjusted and less chance of parasites/diseases.
