I’m curious how it works for filtering. I was under the impression it it useless when wet

It's heat treated to change the structure of the silica, and then it's just like using sand for a filter medium but much finer.

The change in structure also makes it much more hazardous to inhale and more likely to cause silicosis compared to the risk of food grade.

Flea/fruit fly issue resolved.

Apple cider vinegar inside, fleas love it, Matilda likes it better then the clear glass we tried at first with cellophane. She said this makes her feel 21st century turtle...
