flies ?

Does anyone else have little fly issues with their indoor enclosures and substrate? I am using coconut fiber and cypress mulch mix. One end is humid and the other end if bone dry. Advise?

I'd personally bite the bullet and replace the old substrate with a new mix. It's my understanding that these flies / gnats feed off tortoise's waste and leftover food.

They do, those flies do eat that stuff. Use pill-bugs (isopods) who can out-compete the flies. You can also use sticky traps, fly stripe etc to control the flies.

They aren’t usually harmful, so I would just leave them in. However, you can use fly traps like the ones Will mentioned.

Thanks everyone... I actually put apple cider vinegar in a shot glass with plastic wrap over it and a pin hole... it worked wonders!

Thanks for the idea! We just noticed little flies too and our substrate is only a month old.
