I've seen a few threads about this but can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. Where do most people get the natural stuff? Just your backyards? What about all the fancy flowers? Also how often am I supposed to feed and how much should I feed a well started leopard tort? Please reply with any info about their diets!

Welcome!

There should be an instruction sheet in the leopard-specific subforum. In general, tortoises should have access to as much food as they like, all day.

That said, finding food can truly be done anywhere, based on what is locally available to you. Ethnic grocers can be great options. I checked the demographics for your city and while it seems pretty white, are there any non “traditional” grocers near you? We can start there. After that we can check what is growing in your yard and near you. Be aware that no matter what you first are told here, nearly all the breeders and large scale owners supplement with some kind of pellet food, there is no shame in it.

While you’re still new, here is a thread I put together about starting in the most average of grocery stores: https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/trip-to-a-normal-grocery-store.226072/.

There is no one way to find “the best” diet so try not to fuss while you’re getting started.

I live in a fairly diverse city so it doesn’t sent hard to find Chinese, Korean, Eurasian grocery stores that stock a lot of interesting greens well beyond the standard grocery store. Just start exploring some of these small grocers and you will find about anything you want.
There is no need to grow your own, or forage your own.
Also buy a small bag of Arcadia Optimosed 52. Just feed some of that mixed with any greens daily as that is an amazing healthy mix of grasses and flowers and pollens.

Yeah I live near St Louis Missouri which is big but it doesn't have much of this sort of stuff. But it's not terrible to feeds normal grocery store food to my tortoise right? I'll give it calcium and D3 supplements and also pellets maybe three times a week and weeds when I can find them.

Grocery store greens are fine. Just steer clear of lettuces, except escarole and endive, which are both very good. I also feed kale (sometimes, but not a lot), bok choy, dandelions greens (this may not be in your grocery store). I avoid spinach. If you buy the mixed greens in the plastic tubs or bags just make sure there isn’t a majority of spinach.
You will be just fine. The good news is that baby leopard tortoises will eat about anything.
Try to get some Arcadia Optimised 52 and start mixing that in early, just a bit, not much and they you can increase in the future when they are older and like it.

Thank you for the greens advice. Although my grocery store doesn't have dandelion greens I'm starting to grow some of them and also plantain leaves. Is the Arcadia optimized 52 similar to the Mazuri tortoise LS diet? Or should I buy the Arcadia?

They are very different. The Mazuri pellets are good food, healthy and balanced. Personally my tortoises don’t like it very much unless they are going crazy eating and I slip some softened pellets into the food I am feeding them by hand.
The optomized is a great food and you can see the flowers and all the different stuff in the material. It is also hard to get them to love but they grow to love it. I feed that with my greens (you must mix it for some time to get them use to it) everyday. I also have the mazuri pellets and I will mix that in this winter.
I guess it is your personal choice. I would but both and see what works for you.

Diversity, Try feeding many different things, now's the chance to build up their diet palette. Get them used to many different greens & feeds. There will be things they don't like, but if you chop stuff up for the lil mouths, they will eventually have to taste different flavors.

I am not an expert, but would like to add something. We adopted our leopard tortoise when he was a "teenager" about 14 years old. We don't know what he ate prior, but he was and is very pyramided so probably was given a poor diet in early years. Anyway, for the next 15 years he ate only grass, as we lived in CA. Then we moved to TN. So now, in winter I have to fix him plates of food. He refuses to touch pellets or hay or anything I pick from the yard. If he can't graze the grass himself, he won't touch it. He'll eat finely shredded kale and romaine, and I put carrot shavings on top. My point is, to strategize long term and perhaps get your guy accustomed to a broad diet while young.

They are kind of like kids, if you don’t make them eat a variety early in life they will never eat alot of stuff when they grow up. Same thing.

For my leopards, I mixed a variety of stuff for them from hatching so now they will eat literally everything…except for mustard greens and parsley
