I am looking to put some het on the floor of my indoor enclosures. While the bedding is thick and they have lots of light /heat (ambient air is from 70-90 depending on time of day) I feel like my reds and yellows are a bit to cool. I have been looking at the Kane mats and I have two questions

1. Can/do I put them under the bedding
2. What does this mean

Note: When mat is placed inside any confined area, the rheostat accessory is necessary

The website says not to use anything on top of them except a cover that they sell. So I don't put anything over mine. My reds and yellows just lay on top of them - but I always make sure there is enough room for them to get off them is they want.

If you were to put one of these in an enclosed box or hide, you need a rheostat (dimmer - heat control) to prevent overheating. I think you need one anyway, then your mat can be exactly the temperature you want it to be. I use a stanfield mat, and am glad to have it.

So will it be safe to lay on top of the bedding or jury on the laminate flooring underneath? Thanks for the help!

I don't think they are recommended above or below bedding. Most seem to use them in outside enclosures: directly on shed or hide floors, covering 1/2 or less of the floor space.

What about heat cables, zip tied to plastic or galvanized wire? Waterproof cables can be under substrate that is moist.

They also need to be on a thermostat, with the probe near but not touching the cable.
