I said before, shining a light through your tortoise does not indicate anything.
Hey tom so i askedthe seller again and he said the lil guy was born on may 2020 so he's almost 6 months now so on average how old isa baby's plastron likely to harden as the upper plastron has hardened however the bottom and middle section are still soft and when i checked again the middle section is a bit softer than usual however the texture changes time to time any theories?

Dude. You are obsessed with plastron hardness. Why? Leave it alone. Don't worry about that. It will remain pliable until the tortoise grows and gets larger. This is normal and fine. Just leave it alone.

If the plastron starts feeling spongy and looks bruised, it means your baby is at the end stages of Breeder Failure Syndrome, and nothing and no one can stop that. If its not squishy like a sponge, then don't worry about the plastron. It isn't supposed to be hard when they are babies, and there is no way and no reason to try and make it solidify early.
