Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone could help me ID this tort. My friend just had it come in to her care, and we can't figure out if it is a Greek tortoise or not. She was told it was a Hermann's, but since they look so similar we wanted to check with more knowledgable keepers to find out for sure.

Thank you for any help you have!
Michelle

Hi Michelle:

It looks like a Hermann's to me, but I'm not a good one to I.D. these species.

Yes it looks like testudo hermanni boetgeri at the moment. To identify testudo hermanni hermanni and testudo hermanni boetgeri would be easier in the future :)

It looks Hermann's to me, but greek tortoises always have spurs on their thighs. That will tell you for sure. :)
