I read somewhere that honeysuckle is safe to feed. Now, I have a honeysuckle plant growing in my garden - no pesticides or weed killer. Plus, my room would smell nice!

Is it true that it's safe to feed? And do you use the whole flower, or just the leaves?

I use flowers and leaves from Cape honeysuckle, and common Honeysuckle. The leaves are 'tolerated' the flowers eaten in abundance without hesitation. Many years ago I had an iguana graze a giant honeysuckle bush down to the plants eventual death.

As for saponins, like most compounds in plants they are both potentially beneficial and detrimental. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saponin so in a varied mixed diet where the tortoise is not restricted to eating honeysuckle alone, you are okay to offer it.
