HI guys. i give my sully cuttlebone at the enclosure that he/she can munch on. Do i need to remove the shell part at the back of the cuttlebone or just leave it as it is?

Thanks

I don't think that's necessary. You just place the cuttlebone, hard side down, on the floor of the habitat. Most tortoises won't eat it until it has sat there for a while. Some people even grate a bit of it over the tortoise's food. Some people take off the hard back and some don't. I guess its a personal choice.

Thanks Yvonne. I just clarified this because i'm not sure if the shell part is digestible for a sulcata.

Thanks!!!

I remove the hard part. I have found undigested very sharp shards in waste, and I could imagine problems from this. If your sulcata is still small, probably no problem.
