how to plant a cactus pad

So I seen people talking on here about planting a cactus pad I was just wondering if someone could explain the process to me like what type of soil how to plant it etc

I'm not much of a green thumb

Stick it in the ground or pot. Done
Cacti are easy to grow.

Use a well draining soil. You can buy a cactus blend of potting soil or make your own.

Let the cactus scat over then plant
To make your own cactus soil.mix potting soil and sand. 80/20 ratio

I was taught and successfully do the following......
Cut a pad off.
Lay it down in the shade and allow the end to callous for a week. This prevents the juice from running out, into the soil. The pad will be just fine.
Then plant.
