the title is a little bit of a joke but i noticed my nearly 7 month old tortoise is still active and awake despite it being 11:00 pm at night. typically, he goes to sleep at around 3-4 pm, so i find it incredibly odd that he is actively walking around. i noticed him when i heard him shuffling near his food bowl, scraping his nails along the terracotta. as you can see in the first image, ambient light, basking light, uvb lights are all off. but he is standing under a che bulb i keep on at all times (i just turned it off though in case that is the problem). the ambient temperature is in the low to mid 70s. when i went to turn his lights off at around 8-8:30 (typically turn them off at 7:00-7:30, i ran a little late) i noticed he was sleeping under his basking light. it's one thing to stay awake til the lights go out, but another to be awake when it is nearly midnight, couple of hours after the lights are off. i will say that the lights in the room that he his in are on (which is typically the case), but he's never done this before, any ideas as to why this is?

i suppose my insomnia is rubbing off onto him. whoopsie. but seriously im kind of confused - _ -IMG_0740.jpeg

Hello!

If lights in the room are on - they are disturbing him. They need almost complete darkness to sleep. I use the cheapest blackout curtain from IKEA to cover the enclosure.
