Is my tortoise to active

hi I live in Northern Ireland and have a 2yr old Herman who lives in a viv but he always seems to want out and tries to climb up the glass front I do let him out sometimes and he just wonders round my home but when her doesn’t get out he just walks up and down the viv trying to climb up the glass front and I have found him on his back a couple of times which is worrying but is it normal behaviour thanks

There are a lot of things that could be a problem.

-your enclosure could be too small. What are the dimensions?

-your temperatures could be wrong. What is your basking temp, cool side temp, and night?

-can we see a picture of your enclosure?

How large is his enclosure?
Also, letting him roam around for one is dangerous but also he now knows there is a bigger world out there and wants to get to it. Have you tried covering the bottom part of the glass to prevent him from seeing out?

His enclosure is 4foot by 3 foot long plenty of room for him the temp is between 85/ 90 through the day and about 60 at night so don’t think it’s that he always has good and water I will send a picture of his viv

It addresses your problem a little.

I’m not sure how large your tortoise is, but an adult would do best in a 4x8 enclosure.
