kane heat mat

I need some info on using a kane mat. I know that it says that you cant use bedding like cypress on the mat. The directions also say that you need to keep bedding several feet from the mat. Im using it in a turtle table with pancake tortoises, is it allright to have the bedding all around the mat? I will also have bricks and a flagstone roof spanning the mat. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You.

Hello and welcome. Mr. Kane has to protect himself from liability. He told me a story about someone leaving one pugged in under their couch cushions and it eventually caught fire. I put plastic tubs of water on top of mine and sometimes the bermuda hay in my sulcatas night houses get pushed on top of them too. I've never had a problem. I don't know what the bricks and flagstone will do, but at least they won't catch fire.
