Lifted scute

What would cause this this? I just noticed yesterday a seperation in the shell along a growth line that is probably more than a year old. It is the only spot like this on his shell. It is separated just enough to slide my fingernail under it.

Perhaps an old injury....there can be so many reasons for this type of issue...

I was just wondering if it's something I need to be worried about, I am afraid it could be something that would spread and the whole scute could come off.
