I went on a walk and was pretty excited to finally see a turtle in the wild...she was really pretty and she kept her eyes on us the entire time...does anyone know what kind of turtle (I assume it was a water turtle because she jumped into the water after a bit)

I believe it is a wood turtle. That's very cool that you saw it. I believe they are endangered. Beautiful!!

Southern PA, I don't really know anything about NA wood turtles, are they normally found in the East or all over?

They must have a pretty wide range, these are also found as far north as Quebec, Canada.

Humm, that is a good question! I never even thought to ask myself but looks as if it was digging. BTW noticed you were in Amish country which one? I live right in the middle of a couple of them.
