I live in the DFW area and was curious what kind of resources I have available. Would prefer a Greek, but am open to looking into others. Any and all help is appreciated. ;)

Russians are good too and more readily available. Whatever you decide though, the people here can help you!

Hello and a very warm welcome to Tortoise Forum.
Any species is possible if you get your indoor and if possible outdoor set ups right before you begin.
Have a look at http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/beginner-mistakes.45180/
and http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/greek-tortoise-testudo-graeca-care-sheet-overview.87146/
to begin and then http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/russian-tortoise-care-sheet.80698/
and look at our species specific section to see the care needs of other species.

Hello and Welcome:). Good luck on your search. Be sure to share your choice and a pic of your new shelled family member when you get it.

I lived in that same area 13 years ago, Arlington to be specific. Back then for me it was Sulcatas, when making your decision keep in mind longevity and space. That clay soil bakes solid like a brick in the Texas heat, if keeping outdoors you also need a deep hide to provide some cooling so you might want to create an earth/sand mix for them to dig down in. Remember to provide a water source but again keep in mind how hot a shallow water are can get from that Texas sun. I remember one summer their, people were putting blocks of ice in their pools just to keep them tolerable. Good luck.
