Mating Habits

I have 2 spur thigh tortoises Male and Female both in the same vavarium, (they are according to their papers 3 years old) I was told that it was OK to have them both in the same vavarium as they didn't mature sexually until they were about 7 years old.

Just recently the male has started mounting the female.....Is the male just practising for when he gets older or should I be worried

I know I am joking but this is a serious question.

Sometimes I suspect it is a sign of stress... I've seen 4 inch Aldabra tortoises going at it.

Sexual maturity goes more by size than age....

In saying that one of my Horsfields started this at the age of 9 months.... like most men they don't have control over their urges lol
