Mineral cake - vs- cuttlebone

I was at the petstore today and they were 100 % out of Cuttle bone. They had a "mineral cake" in the same section. I bought it. I noticed when I got home the mineral cake is made of Calcium and salt.

We have a 3 year old Russian, Is salt bad for her?

Hmm... well, I'm actually not sure what salt needs tortoises have?? I've never heard of it being a issue
I DO have a cuttbone, but I have to be tricky about it anyway, 'cause my russian hates eating it (LOL, the turtles eat theirs like candy[which is funny because half the time they have one, it's just floating about undisturbed!])
