I’m devastated because my tortoise has gone missing. I let him walk around while I was cleaning out my car, and when I went to check on him, he was nowhere to be found. I’ve searched everywhere, but I can’t find him. I don’t know if he wandered too far from home, if someone found him and took him in, or if he’s lost and unable to find his way back.
Not knowing where he is or if he’s safe is driving me crazy. I loved him so much, and the thought of him being gone is heartbreaking. If anyone has seen him, knows anything about his whereabouts, or may have picked him up thinking he was lost, please let me know. I just need to know he’s okay. This is the worst feeling in the world, and I’d really appreciate any help in finding him.
Please share this and help me bring him home!

Notify everywhere you can think of -

Post flyers all over the neighborhood, staple to light poles and everywhere else possible, any public bulletin board (grocery stores, pet stores, get creative), etc.
Post on Next Door, FB, and more
Call vet's offices within a few miles radius
Call a tortoise rescue nearby, tell them all the details and send pics, also ask where else they would notify
Call Animal Control and notify them, also ask what they would suggest to notify
Offer a reward
Find a kids' group, like Boy Scouts, (call the local schools to find) and ask them to search your neighborhood, emphasize looking under bushes and in hidden spots, give them something for helping whether they find him or not, but especially if they find him.

Sorry to hear that. You can try making a post on Craigslist as well. I've used cut brush in the past and left in lying in the yard. I found my lost box turtle under it a few days later.

I am so sorry this happened, there is nothing that can take that feeling away, it sucks trust me I know. I personally would walk Door to Door with pics on my phone telling every neighbor. The best hope you have is to have 'Many' people looking .... meaning that every person you inform of this is another set of eyes that can help. Post flyers too, and all the other social media stuff but don't feel embarrassed talking to your neighbors, there your best hope.

Oh no! I hope you find him. Just make sure you keep checking your local shelters in case someone turned him in. And check the area every day in case he's wondering around in the general same area. I hope you find him!

Did you find a tortoise?
Yes. Hence the screen name. Found in la 90036 area. I’m not posting pictures because I did that on a few sites, next door, ring and I have several people claiming they lost the tortoise. Lots of crazy out there.

You could make your own thread in the lost and found section.
