My tortoise hates me.

Hi, I'm convinced my tortoise hates me. I think his morning wash might have been a bit too warm as the moment I put him in to soak, he tried to get out. Usually he will just lounge and not really move. His sister didn't seem to mind the water.

Now whenever I go near their tank, he runs away and starts trying to climb the walls.

Am I just being paranoid or does he hate me?

Tortoises aren't capable of 'hate'. Quit being so paranoid ( ) and just move slowly around the tortoise. Fear is probably more of what the reaction is rather than hate.

If I do as you suggest and move slowly, will they start to trust me? Or should I handle them more so they get used to me? The only time I hold them is during bath time lol.

I would not handle him more. Maybe less.
I would make sure nothing hurts or scares him. Nefore he is put in water, you should confirm the temperature.
I would do as Yvonne suggests and just give him time to adjust.
He does not hate you!

Unlike me tortoises are not capable of hating people, like yvonne said, he probably hates tte soaks.
