Never had tortoises before! I have no idea what im doing!

I use eco earth coco coir substrate. It sells on Amazon as dehydrated bricks and not a bad price, and I mix it with reptibark..I think its zoo med brand. By far the best I have tried and my torts love it. With any bags of dirt you don't know what you might get in there. Besides all the bad stuff that could be mixed in, I got the pleasure of getting fire ants in the bag I bought ? which can be deadly to torts

oh no i’d be so upset to find critters in the dirt! Never heard of coco coir until a few days ago but i’m glad i did it seems that it’s a favourite of everyones I’m surprised I’d never heard of it before

Its very good but gets very dry so definitely get some of that repti b ark to mix in
