Hello! Last week I was finally able to get back into boxies with the purchase of a captive bred three toed baby. He/she was just born this past fall. I'm calling it a her for the time being and her name is Lucy. I have her in a 10 gal vivarium and she appears to be thriving. I'm in my office six days a week so she's staying at work for the time being.

Once she's a little older I have a great spot on my property for an outdoor pen.

As a young child and up into my teenage years I raised Florida box turtles. I gave my herd away when I moved to TN for college, and finally, eight long years later, I have a boxie again!

This is a great forum and I hope to be able to share lots of photos and milestones.

I also have two dogs, Henry and Rhys. Henry is my shelter special and Rhys is my champion American Pit Bull Terrier. Love them to bits but there's something about a boxie!

Thanks everyone! Happy to report that Lucy is eating, drinking, and very active. All her behaviors are text book normal and I'm excited to see how she progresses.

Oh, and I've seen her hunting several times! She eats dried bugs happily from a dish but also hunts the crickets and pill bugs in her enclosure. I'm mixing in fruits and veggies with her meal worms to try and trick the little fatty :)

She is very cute! Unless you have a lot of room, it is usually advised against housing two or more together :)

I have two Fla box that I hatched and raised . They got along fine for a couple of years. big one started trying to bite smaller one. now they live next to each other in pens. also, I would recommend not to mix box species.

Thanks for the responses :) I am very happy with only having one boxie at this point. Easier to house, move around, etc. As long as she's happy as a singleton that's all that matters to me.

Currently I'm out of work for a few days recovering from surgery, so Lucy has gotten some extra attention.

I purchased her from exotic pets in Las Vegas and had her shipped here. She took the journey beautifully.

She was supposedly hatched last fall but I don't know the exact date.
