What species is this?

With leopards or sulcatas:Occasionally being hot at night wouldn't concern me. Routinely being hot at night, would.

With Russians:
I would find a way to cool them down.

I mention these species since they are what I have/can relate to.

Hope this helps.

Why, physiologically speaking, is "cooling down" at night beneficial?
My two torts go from 95-100 degrees daytime (with cool areas of 75)' to 68-75 at night.
my Sulcata is outdoors much of the time and at night it's
60-65

What type of enclosure are the Redfoots in? Tort table, open top, closed chamber, aquarium?

Maybe we can help you figure out a way to at least drop the temp into the 80s.

Yes, there absolutely is such a thing as too hot at night for a tortoise. But occasional exposure to short term heat at night is fine. As long as it's not constant for long periods of time. The opposite is true of day time temperatures. Certain temperatures need to be reached for normal activity but occasional cooler temperatures during the day that render a tortoise inactive are not going cause any harm as long as it is not constant and long term. In regard to temperate climate species extreme heat for long periods is more of a concern than colder temperatures.

It's a table. It has a closed half and open half but the open half is covered in plexiglass to keep humidity up. I sacrificed humidity for the night to lower temps.

Also windows are open and fans running. It's all together way to hot.

Do they get good air flow? - Oh I see your response...never mind.
if you have russians they should be fine. I keep mine outdoors and when it gets above 100 I spray the enclosure with the water hose to help cool them down. At night the ground will be cooler for them to dig into.
