One of Jasper's Scales Is Peeling?

It's the scale over his ear. Is he just shedding? I give him 2 baths every week, so he's not dry. It's a bit hard to see in the pictures.

It's hard to tell, but is there a ball-like swelling at the ear site? If so, he has a tympanic abscess.

No swelling, just peeling. There's another scale under it, of course, so I hope he's just shedding.
