:D Hi every one!

in a couple days I am going to pick up 3 adult red foots!!!
2 males 1 female.
I am moving tomorrow to a big house on 22 acres with lots of grass.
problem is there is no fence except around the whole property so I need to make a large pen for them but don't have that much money to spend on it until next week. I can add on to it then.

I was thinking about using lattice what do you think?
I was also thinking for the temp to do 12' by 12' what is your thoughts on size and the lattice?

also can reds eat sunflowers? they are all over the property.

thank you so much and pics with better ideas would be great or pics of a lattice pen would be cool too

Sunflowers are safe for occasional meals. I dunno about your temporary enclosure. If it were me and it was super temporary, I'd just make a giant frame like a sandbox with no bottom and plop it down somewhere. But then again, I'm not known for my "This Old House" carpentry skills :p

Lattice would work. I would angle it inward to frustrate any attempts at climbing. Redfoots will munch on sunflowers ( mine do) but I can't comment on nutritive value.

I think I'm going to get 6 of the 2' x 8' and make it longer than wide. I think I can afford that. :)

A lot of us use plywood . Cut 16 inches long ways so you get 24 feet out of one sheet .Here is a picture of my sliders pen using just plywood and 1/4 works great and was cheap.

Get you a 8 foot 4/4 post cut it to 4 pieces then get you two sheets of plywood using the post in the corners make a box . Cut 1/4 to splice the middles together and cap off the top with more1/4 and you have a nice pen that will last .

I also use plywood, painted with exterior primer/paint.

Cheap, looks nice, you can make it any size and expand it at any time. ;)

In this picture you can see I used the painted plywood for 2 different pens. The small pen is for a slider pond and the long wall is for leopards.

Happy building!
