Hi! New member! Have an 18 year old painted who stopped eating. Tried everything, including tons of money at vet. Could he just sit on his rock all winter??

What's the water heater set at? Are you able to get temperature measurements of the basking area and the water temp?

Is he acting normally otherwise?

How long have you had the turtle? Is this the first winter? All of mine stop eating when the light changes in fall. can you describe the setup? INside? Temperature? type of lights? how long lights are on?

Turtles are quite sensitive to the UV levels and light color depending upon the altitude of the sun. They will stop eating when they feel like winter is coming.

Not sure, but do have a basking light and heater. Only ate a few bites in 2 months
Make sure your heater is working and that your water temperature is not too cold. The few times my water got cold my Turtles stopped eating. Once I got the water warmed up again they starting eating again no problem.
