I phrased it that way because for many years I knew nothing but failure and frustration. I followed what all the books and "experts" said... There was no internet or Google, but if there had been, the info would have been wrong anyway... 10 or 15 years ago if I had seen the pic of your tortoise on the moist substrate with all that wetness, I would have been freaking out because you were doing it "WRONG". Hahaha. Funny how things change. Eradication of ignorance is a good thing, but ignorance can be so stubborn...

Just to be clear, I'm complimenting you, and lamenting about my OWN prior ignorance... Just in case this was too vague.

Oh no I completely understand. If it weren't for people like you and this forum, I would be completely lost and not have a clue to what I was doing. I've been following your care sheet as well as others on how to raise mine. On my redfoots, Terry (turtletary.com) and Jackrat helped me out a lot a couple of years ago. But yes, without the Internet years ago, I can see where people would struggle with care and husbandry of their torts. I'm guessing you would have to resort to a library or a bookstore and hope that the author/authors got it right. Lol and I bet most people were too lazy at that time to do even that. Not you of course, but I'm sure there were a lot out there. Thanks again Tom, I'm going to continue to take your advise and follow your care sheets on Sulcatas. :)
