I just noticed my almost 2 year old redfoot has what seems to be a wound or infection of some sort. On his bridge scutes and one plastron scute, they are darkened and peeling up and apart. The bone underneath is darker and maybe slightly crumbly. It's not soft and squishy though. Please advise!!!

I have no idea what could have caused that new growth to flake off, but it doesn't look good, does it. Maybe the substrate is a bit too wet and he's starting to get shell rot? I just don't know. I've not seen this before, sorry.

The only thing I can think to suggest is to clean the area well and apply an antibiotic ointment to keep germs from growing there.

~ WOW, I have never seen anything like that either, my guess is similar to Yvonnes. We would also segregate it from any other if kept with others just to treat and isolate to prevent and protect any others from possible similar issues.
