I was just wondering if anyone else's tort is picky about the color of the flower they will eat? My redfoot Houdini will only eat solid yellow or solid orange magnolias. He will not eat the dark orange with yellow high lights. Is he just being silly or is there a reason behind it?

There could be a reason. However torts are suppose to go more for reds. Hmmm:)

I fed my tort a snap dragon flower the other day. He LOVED the red ones, loved the yellow ones even more, but wouldn't even look at the white ones! :p

Cooper's favorite color choice is red/orange. But this year he started going after yellow dandelion's for a change. I was starting to think he was afraid of yellow things! :p Also I have a drum set for the Wii and I had it apart to pack it up to get ready to move, and he tried to eat the one drum head that has the green around it. Cracked me up!

They are strange in their habits aren't they? Houdini will eat a red hibiscus blossom it is just that one magnolia he refuses to eat. Lol. Oh well, I guess that one is just decoration.

That's pretty funny! When my son wore little red shoes when he was smaller, the torts went wild and kinda swarmed him, trying to nibble on his shoes. So weird, since I NEVER feed fruit, and at least in my care have never been given strawberries or tomato or anything else red except hibiscus flowers that are hot pink.

I think it must be something in their genes that makes them crazy for those beta carotene rich foods
