I agree , food grade diatomaceous earth spread it throughout the enclosure ! Those darn fire ants are the worst !

Not as long as you make sure you get "Food Grade" .

DE causes tiny scratches in the exoskeleton of the insects, causing dehydration and then death.
If you use food grade it should be fine.
