I help care for a 16 year old Burlander. He chooses to hibernate for about 6 months every year. Oct 15 to Mar 15 (you can almost set a calendar by it he is so consistent. Normally he passes a large amount of urates or even a small/medium size stone (size of a pea to size of a large grape) a week or so after he wakes up. This year he woke up a month late so April 18 and he still hasn't passed any urates or a stone. After reading through the threads I am thinking that this might be OK. He has only urinated maybe 6 times in the past 2 months. (sometimes he plays for a long time in the yard so it is hard to be sure exactly how much he is urinating. Seems like not enough. He is a bit lethargic too, but he just moved to a new house. We are stepping up his soaking routine. He always has access to plenty of fresh water.
Do I need to be concerned that he hasn't passed any urates or stones this year?
Thank you. He is very loved. Please educate gently.
