He was fine when I spent about an hour with him watching him eat half a cooked yam Saturday night.....here's the nightmare I discoveredSo very sorry. Do you know what may have happened?

Oh man, so sorry, what an awful way to have to find him. I can't imagine, raising him up that long. Glad you got to spend some time with him that night though before this happened. That's the hardest part of having animals, they can't tell us how they are feeling. Tortoises are even harder, they don't show even a little bit like a dog or cat can sometimes. He had a good life, lucky he had you. Doesn't make it easier I know.He was fine when I spent about an hour with him watching him eat half a cooked yam Saturday night.....here's the nightmare I discovered
ABN was my first tortoise at 2 weeks from the egg...he was only 23 years old now...last night I took his evening treat to him and he ate 1/2 cooked yam...and he followed me around the yard some and was fine...when I took his breakfast this morning he was almost gone...his head was under the light and his body was warm...but his whole neck was out and loose and when I picked him up there was a gurgling sound and a gush of black yuck washed out...but the main thing is something neither Y nor I have ever seen...his penis was out, so were both testicles AND the shaft that should be holding it all in....I've never seen their balls out. What could have happened? I thought maybe his penis prolapsed in the night and he just kept pushing and pushed it all out...I was not prepared for this to happen to him...especially him...it hurts my heart to lose especially him...he was a great little tortoiseView attachment 397178
