Alright...so, my Greek was eating at around 3:30ish at his previous
home, and I feed him everyday at about 9 or 10.

He's a late sleeper too...but his plate is clean by the time i get home
(minus some red and green chard which I found out that he hates...
I actually watched him spit it out :p) by afternoon time .

Well anyways, around six or so at night, when we come home after
classes, we (my bf and I) have been giving him a snack of five or so
lettuce leaves (various, from his spring mix)

His lights are on from 7:30 am until 9:30 pm, and I was just wondering
if it is harmful for him to eat more than once a day. Tonight we didn't
give him any extra, and he was up and about like 3 times tonight even
though he usually beds down early. It really seemed like he was looking
for his snack.

I just wanted to know if he was looking because he is hungry, and should
be perhaps, fed more in the morning, or if he was doing that because we
have "conditioned" him to do so.

Any thoughts?

Meg, I feed my greeks once a day. No nightime snacks. But I know of those that do feed in the early AM and then in the afternoon. but just like you said a snack. I did give one of my hatchlings a snack and for two day he was up late looking to eat. After that I went to feeding in the AM only and now they no longer look for the snack so Yes I think it is conditioning them.

Do you think its a bad thing though? We never give him much...
just a bit to munch on. I feel bad because my schedule this last
week has been out of wack and I don't see him as much as I would
like during the day...feeding him a little at night gives me a chance
to interact with him...

I just don't want to cause harmful weight gain...

Its funny that they learn so quickly! Very trusting little creatures too!
So different from my ball pythons! He already eats from our hands.
And we've only had him for 7 days!

Hi...I agree with the conditioning.
You might want to think about hand feeding. Or at least be careful. Often when they are used to being hand fed and you put your hand in to pick them up or just to do something in the enclosure, they will nip, or in the case of snakes, they have been known to bite. Maybe feeding tongs would be a better choice.
Good luck

I don't see that as a bad thing, that is, giving him a little snack in the eve; seems to me you all enjoy the added time, so why not?

 Enjoy ~
