Hi Claire:

One thing to keep in mind, sort of like a last resort, you CAN tube feed a tortoise that doesn't eat.

I have a desert tortoise here now that won't eat, and I tube her every other day. If you can't do that, then the vet can surgically place a feeding tube into the tortoise's stomach through her neck, and then it gets taped to the shell. When you use it, you un tape it, feed the tortoise, clean the tube with a bit of water, then tape it back onto the carapace.

If it comes down to that, the vet can sell you the things you need and show you how to do it.

That's true. Last Spring the vet tube fed nutrients/vits (and worm med after a +fecal check) to my male who was on a rampage but would not eat. This was repeated at 2 weeks. It seemed to be enough to turn things around.

Aw the pic won't load properly :(
Wow thanks I didn't realise you could tube them. He does seem to slowly be picking up but if i can't get anymore into him this is definitely something worth looking into. It's so frustrating as he has little energy due to not eating so stays in his hide but needs to bask and to warm up and therefore eat, it's a vicious circle!!!! But happy with his basking time today fingers crossed we have another successful day tomorrow.
