Hi! I ask a lot of questions. Anyone ever had trouble with Spanish moss? Currently I have coconut coir/organic soil and a little bit of Spanish moss.

Ty!

I'm sorry, I don't have a comment for that.
But where did you get it? Home Depot?

It grows naturally here....New Orleans LA. We boiled it then microwaved so no small bugs etc

I personally don't like the moss. I had gnat problems. The plain old Eco earth works great, for me.

I bought mine at the orchid shop, since I am in So Cal. I placed it on top of the humid hides and also glued it to the lid/top of my closed chamber with E6000 glue. I spray it every other day to keep it wet. I like it but inside the hides, I have sphagnum moss only because it seems to be softer and more cushioning for my little tortoise butts. I like Spanish moss, so beautiful. When it hangs from trees, love that look. : )

Got mine at the San Gabriel nursery. The older man there, he knows my dad, he ordered me some organic ones :D

Maybe you havent had any problems but i want to caution you about using E-6000 glue in a closed chamber. The fumes are toxic and it off-gasses for months. I once made an ant farm with plexi and a wood frame and used E-6000 to glue it together. Well to make a long story short, it was over a year before any ants could survive more than 12 hrs in the thing. I realize torts are not ants but i believ it is worth noting.

Thank you gustaf, so much! The orchid place told me it would be fine but I did wonder. The dots I used are small, 6 dots total but best safe than sad and I am going to remove them. Thanks again. : )

No problem. Maybe no ill effects would happen. But i wanted to let u know about my experience with the stuff. Do you have a hot glue gun. A dab of hot glue would probably do the trick.
